Abstract

Soil tillage is an activity that cannot be avoided in plant cultivation. The selection of an improper tillage system can have a negative impact on the properties of the soil so that it is damaged. In order to keep the soil from being damaged, it is necessary to choose the right tillage system so that the soil can continue to produce optimally. This research was conducted from October 2021 to February 2022, which was carried out at the Field Laboratory of the Department of Soil, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, with 3 treatment levels which were repeated 5 times so that there were 15 experimental units. The treatment levels in this study were T0 (No-Tillage), T1 (Minimum Tillage), and T2 (Complete Tillage). The results showed that the application of various tillage systems had no significant effect on the response in the form of soil physical properties, but had a significant effect on plant height growth. The results of this study are recommended to use T2 treatment or thorough tillage because the application of thorough tillage results in soil physical properties which tend to be better than other tillage and thorough tillage has better plant height growth than other tillage systems.
