Abstract

Indonesia terletak di daerah tropis memiliki temperatur maksimum harian melebihi 30°C dengan kelembaban tinggi sepanjang tahun sekitar 70-90%. Kenaikan temperatur ambien dapat mendorong dikembangkannya teknologi mesin pendingin. Teknologi mesin pendingin adalah suatu teknologi yang dapat menimbulkan perlakuan terhadap udara untuk mengatur temperatur, kelembaban, kebersihan dan pendistribusiannya secara serentak guna mencapai kondisi yang diperlukan didalam suatu ruangan. Penggunaan Thermoelectric Cooler (TEC) yang tidak menggunakan refrigeran telah membuka peluang untuk mendesain mesin pendingin yang ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini memakai TEC1-12706 untuk mendinginkan kotak pendingin berukuran 39,5 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm. Fluida yang dipakai adalah air bersirkulasi secara kontinyu di dalam sebuah sistem untuk meningkatkan Efek Peltier pada modul TEC. Pengambilan data dilakukan menggunakan sebuah mikrokontroler Arduino Mega 2560. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan temperatur rata-rata kotak pendingin 28,07ºC.
