Abstract

Plastic is something that cannot be separated from humans because the existence of plastic is very young to be found in everyday life. The existence of plastic waste is always increasing. An alternative way so that plastic waste can be utilized is to convert plastic waste into alternative fuels by the pyrolysis method. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature on the characteristics of pyrolysis oil by combining High-Density PolyEthylene (HDPE) and PolyPropylene (PP) plastic waste. The characteristics of the pyrolysis oil are volume, density, viscosity, and calorific value. The pyrolysis process was carried out with variations in temperature, namely 200ºC, 250ºC, 300ºC, 350ºC, 400ºC, and 450ºC with a time of 80 minutes. The plastic used has a mass of 500 grams of plastic waste with a composition of 50% High-Density PolyEthylene (HDPE) and 50% PolyPropylene (PP). The results of the study showed, 1) The highest amount of oil was produced at a temperature of 450ºC as much as 350 ml. 2) The density of pyrolysis oil is 670-790 kg/m3. 3) The viscosity of pyrolysis oil is 1.611-2.401 cP. 4) The calorific value of pyrolysis oil is 7393,7584-8946,3759 cal/gr.
