Abstract

This study was to knowing about the diversity of dragonflies and to get the conservation status of dragonflies at Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. Total of four stations were determined based on a survey as research locations around the Sriwijaya University. Dragonflies were collected using an insect net starting at 06.30-10.30 AM and 14.00-17.30 PM. Dragonflies were collected and identified using a dragonfly identification book. The results of the research found 113 individuals consisting of two families, belonging to 12 genera and 17 species of dragonflies identified. The dragonflies that were collected were Family Libelulidae, 12 species of dragonflies were found, namely Orthetrum Sabina, Orthetrum chrysis, Diplacodes nebulosa, Neurothemis tullia, Neurothemis fluctuans, Rhyothemis Phyllis, Crocothemis servilia, Erythodiplax fusca (f), Brachydiplax chalybea, Acisoma panorpoides, Acisoma sp., and Brachythemis contaminata. There are five species from Coenagrionidae family, namely Pseudagrion rubriceps, Ischnura senegalensis, Ischnura pumilio (f), Argia pulla (f), and Argia Indicatrix. The result of the index value includes the diversity of Shannon, Eveness and the Jaccard index varies (H' = 0.8-2 ,1, E= 0.75-0.91, and Cj= 0.02-1.00). Based on the conservation status, the percentage of dragonfly presence was calculated which was divided into four groups is rare species (52.94%), unusual species (5.88%), fairly common species (35.29%) and very common species (5.88%). This research shows that Sriwijaya University is indicated to have an environment that is categorized as very good in terms of population growth of dragonflies in the environmental ecosystem and its conservation status is in the Safe category (Secure).
