Abstract

Seismic interpretation needs to be done in an effort to optimize the use of hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons can be identified by characterizing zones that are suspected to have a reservoir. The acoustic impedance inversion method is an interpretation method that can be used to characterize the hydrocarbon zone. The method can also be supported with the distribution of porosity and amplitude. This study aims to estimate the value of acoustic impedance of reservoir zone by processing acoustic impedance inversion and analyze the distribution of reservoir porosity with acoustic impedance and amplitude attributes. This study used the model-based acoustic impedance inversion method. The data which were used on this research are well log data and 3D seismic data. Based on the analysis of the inversion result, low acoustic impedance are obtained in the target zone with a range of 27000-34000 ((ft/s)*(g/cc)). The layer in the target zone consists of low acoustic impedance and covered by high acoustic impedance. It shows that the target zone can be defined as hydrocarbon zone. Based on the distribution of porosity, the hydrocarbon zone is spread from the north side of the well, then heading to the east side, to the south and then through the west side of the well. In addition, it can be concluded that the distribution of porosity is quite identical to the distribution of acoustic impedance. But there is a slight difference in the north side of the well on the distribution of amplitude.
