Abstract

Palmprint is a part of hand that has stability as its characteristic and has a number of advantages and disadvantages, such as difficult to be faked and stable because it just experiences a few changes in a very long period of time. This study aims to identify the palmprint to another one so that there will be no forgery carried out by strangers. There are two kinds of image data are used. The first is primary image data captured from a camera that has been prepared and the second is secondary image data from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi’s palmprint database. This research uses gabor filter method for data filtering process in order to get better image quality and statistical texture feature extraction method. The statistical texture feature extraction process is used to find the value of parameters determined, namely contrast, correlation, energy, and homogeneity. In the other hand, the method of euclidean distance is used to find the smallest distance value as the reference of palmprint identification. The final result of this study is detected images, values of statistical texture feature extraction, and also the values of euclidean distance used to identification process. The level of accuracy in this study is 80% for primary image data and 100% for secondary image data.
