Abstract

Kebiasaan buruk yang bertahan dalam jangka waktu yang lama dan terus menerus maka akan menyebabkan suatu kelainan susunan gigi geligi atas dan bawah yang berhubungan dengan bentuk rongga mulut serta fungsinya yang disebut dengan maloklusi. Kebiasaan buruk ini seperti menghisap ibu jari, menggigit atau menghisap bibir, menjulurkan lidah, bernafas dengaan mulut, menggigit pensil atau kuku, menopang dagu, dan tidur dengan posisi yang miring ke kanan atau ke kiri. Adapun maksud daripada penulisan ini adalah mengetahui hubungan maloklusi dengan faktor-faktor kebiasaan buruk pada periode gigi bercampur. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode cross sectional. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian sebanyak 68 orang yang terdiri dari anak-anak kelas 3 dan 4 di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 206 Palembang. Penelitian yang dilakukan mencakup penelitian terhadap kondisi pertumbuhan gigi di dalam rongga mulut selama periode gigi bercampur, dan kebiasaan-kebiasaaan buruk yang dilakukan selama periode gigi bercampur. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara kebiasaan buruk dengan maloklusi pada periode gigi bercampur Kata Kunci: Kebiasaan buruk, maloklusi, gigi bercampur
