Abstract

Inappropriate eating patterns can affect food consumption in children which is a source of nutrients that play a role in child growth and development. A balanced diet produces toddlers with good nutritional status, otherwise an inappropriate diet will cause children to have poor nutritional status. This study aims to determine the description of the eating pattern consisting of the frequency of meals per day, portion size and variety of food and the application of My Plate Fill in stunting and non-stunted toddlers. This study uses a qualitative approach with a Case Study research design. Data collection techniques used in-depth interviews with 15 people divided into 6 mothers of stunted and non-stunted toddlers aged 12-59 months, 1 Puskesmas officer and 2 Posyandu cadres. The results of this study indicate that most stunting toddlers have a smaller portion size than non-stunted toddlers. The frequency of eating for stunting toddlers mostly consists of 2 main meals and 2 snacks, while stunting toddlers consist of 3 main meals and 2 snacks. Diversity of eating stunting and non-stunted toddlers in various categories or in one consumption of >4 types of food. However, most stunting toddlers consume less vegetables, fruits and vegetable side dishes. Meanwhile, in the implementation of my plate, most stunting toddlers have not applied my plate because there are no vegetables, fruit and vegetable side dishes at the main meal. It can be concluded that the diet of non-stunted toddlers is better than the diet of non-stunted toddlers. It is hoped that mothers of toddlers can pay more attention to toddlers' eating patterns that are in accordance with the Isi Piringku standard.
