Abstract

Background: Based on the report on the Minimum Service Standards for HIV in 2020, the target for HIV testing for pregnant women has not yet reached the target. Apart from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is suspected that there are other factors. Therefore, the researcher aims to explore the determinants of access to HIV testing in pregnant women in the city of Palembang. Methods: This study uses a combined method. Data were collected from the PITC form for pregnant women and in-depth interviews. The data were performed univariate, bivariate and thematic analysis. The research respondents were 8,905 pregnant women, while the research informants were 10 pregnant women and 2 staf managing the HIV program at the Palembang City Health Office. Results: The results of the Chi-Square test with 95% CI, there is no relationship between age and education of pregnant women with HIV test access status for pregnant women in the city of Palembang in 2021 with P-value Age = 0.229, PR value of 0.998. Educational status p-value = 0.355 PR value of 0.998. The results of the Fisher Exact test, p-value of employment status = 1,000 > 0.05, there is no relationship between employment status and access to HIV test status and a PR score of 1,000. While the results of the qualitative analysis showed that the four variables had a relationship with the status of access to HIV tests. Conclusion: Age, educational status, and employment status have no relationship with the status of access to HIV testing for pregnant women in the city of Palembang. While the results of the qualitative analysis showed that the four variables had a relationship with the status of access to HIV tests. Suggestion: Early detection is not only PMTCT activity, but requires careful planning and preparation of health resources who are experts in their field.
