Abstract

This study aims to illustrate the problems that emerging from handphone usage by the students of SMP Negeri I Palembang. The population of this study were 325 student of grade VIII. Sample were selected 148 student using simple random sampling techniques. This research use quantitative approach with survey method. Data collection techniques use questionnaires with Guttman scale. Data were analyze by descriptive approach. The results showed that 94.5% of students used Handphone among other types of gadgets. There are 90.5% of students used Handphone more than 6 hours long in a day. Problems that occured from the used of Ha11dphone in the academics system is 80. 7% of students sometimes forget to do their schoolwork because of activated with mobile phone at home. Problems that occured from the used of Handphone in the interaction of students is 82.4% of students was prefer to play or used his mobile phone while they were in a crowd.
