Abstract

Food intake with a balanced diet in children under two determines success in growing and developing children. The golden period can be realized if at this time the child gets the appropriate nutritional intake for optimal growth and development. Low nutrient intake is caused by inadequate knowledge, inappropriate nutrition, and poor attitude in providing complementary foods. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education on the knowledge and attitudes of mothers under two years of age related to the intake of balanced nutrition for children at the posyandu in the working area of the Sako Health Center, Palembang City. The design of this study was a quasi experimental design using a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The sample in this study were 40 people, each group consisting of 20 people. The sampling technique in this study is non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used marginal homogeneity test and mc.nemar test. The results of the study using the marginal homogeneity test in the intervention and control groups obtained p value = 0.000 (p value < α, α = 0.05), indicating that there was a difference between before and after the intervention was given. The results of the study using the McNemar test in the intervention group obtained p value = 0.000 (p value < α, α = 0.05) meaning that there was a difference in increasing positive behavior about balanced nutritional intake on the attitude of mothers who had children under two years old, while in the control group it was obtained p value = 0.125 (p value > α, α = 0.05), Health education through AMZIGG can effectively increase the knowledge and attitudes of under-five mothers regarding balanced nutritional intake because it attracts attention and is fun. Health education through the AMZIGG card game for mothers is recommended as a method in health education so that there is a change in good knowledge and positive attitudes for mothers who have children under two.
