Abstract

Sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack.) is one of the plants that can be used for herbal medicine as imunomodulator and antioxidant. To control the quality of plant as raw material of herbal medicine, we need to analyze the metabolites or chemical compounds found in the plant. One of the techniques for this purpose is the metabolite profiling. Chemical compound in the plats are obtained from different metabolic processes in each leaves of development level. The purpose of this study was to obtain the metabolite profile data, to identify the maker and abudance quantity compound of young, mature and old of sungkai leaves using GC-MS. Each plant part was extracted using metanol by maceration method. Each extract was then analyzed using the GC-MS innstrument. The research has been carried out from December 2021 to February 2022 using purposive sampling methods. Based on the research, it is known that metabolite profiles of young, mature, and old of sungkai leaves were different in these parts were 71,55%, 75,64% and 51,72% as well as with the dominant and several other unique compounds detected as phenol, 2,6-dimethoxy-4-(2-propenyl)- and ursodeoxycholic acid, which are known to have pharmacological effects as natural immunomodulator for the body.
