Abstract

This research goals is to determine the impact of the coal fly ash mixture with chicken manure and TSP fertilizer on the growth of maize (Zea mays) on Ultisols. This study was conducted in November 2012 to July 2013 in a plastic house, then observating the height of com at 15, 30, and 45 days after planting and com weight. Soil Chemical analysis carried out in the Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology, and Soil Fertility at Soil Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The method of research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial with 2 factors. The first factor is coal fly ash-chicken manure mixture (w/w 1:1) at doses of 0, 15, 30 and 45 ton ha'1, and the second is the TSP fertilization at doses of 0, 1/2, and 1 times of the com needs. The results of the research showed that treatment of coal fly ash mixture with chicken manure gives significant effect on the growth of com at Ultisol. While the TSP fertilizer treatment and the interaction between the two treatments showed no significant effect on the growth of com on Ultisol. Treatment of coal fly ash mixture with chicken manure which better for com growth is the treatment of coal fly ash mixture with chicken manure at dose of 15 tons ha'1. Treatment of mixture of coal fly ash with chicken manure at this dose was significantly different ffom the treatment of the mixture with a smaller dose but not significantly different ffom treatment with a mixture of larger doses
