Abstract

The objective of this research was to obtain the composition of the ashes of bagasse and gravel by knowing the moisture content,total mass of the material and the cost of making paving block.The research was conducted from December 2017 until May 2018 at Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya and at Perumnas District Sako, Palembang. This research used complete randomized design method with one treatment factor, that was the addition ashes of bagasse and gravel (A). this research used nine treatments were repeated three times. The parameters observed in this research were water absorption, total mass of the material and the cost of making paving block. The result of the research showed that the addition ashes of bagasse and gravel had significant effect on water absorption and total mass of the material. The best treatment of paving block based on water absorption and total mass of the material at treatment A9 with composition ashes of bagasse 10 %, cement 25 %, and 25 %, and gravel 40 %. Water absorption at treatment A9 was 9.82 %. total mass of the material at treatment A9 was 3061.9 g. The partial replacement of cement by the ashes of bagasse can decreased the cement cost 15,6 %. Based on SNI 03-0691-1996 about quality of concrete, result of the research qualified with an average grade of 10 % water absorption calssified in concrete with quality D that concrete can be used for garden floors and other function.
