Abstract

Miracle in Cell No. 7 is a drama film that tells the story of a person with autism spectrum who lives with his child and is sentenced to death for murder charges against a kid. The purpose of this study was to determine the representation of persons with autism spectrum in the film Miracle in Cell No.7 by Lee Hwan-kyung. This research uses Roland Barthes' Semiotic Theory and Colin Barnes's Disabling Imagery and The Media Concept through a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used by researchers in this research are documentation, observation and literature study. The results of the research discussion found denotations, connotations and myths that contained stereotypical elements in people with autism in the film. Based on the conclusions that the researchers found, people with autism spectrum are considered as helpless individuals and live in the representation of a person who is not disabled
