Abstract

The purpose of this research are to describe the elements of masculinity and ideological of patriarchy that affect the Kartini film from 2017. The theory used in this research is the masculinity theory of Janet Saltzman Chafetz. The research method that used in this research is qualitative descriptive method. The data collection technique used in this research is Document Research where the process of getting the data are from screenshot scene from film Kartini that watched from Netflix. The data analysis technique used is the two ways of signification. The result after data analysis process is there are 22 total scenes from film that suit the 7 elements of masculinty chafetz, started from physical element with 5 scenes, functional with 5 scenes, sexual with 1 scene, emotional with 2 scenes, intelectual with 3 scenes, interpersonal with 3 scenes, and personal character with 3 scenes. There 2 points of patriarchy on myth analysis that affect the film from inside and outsde. Keywords: Masculinity, Film Media, Patriarchy
