Abstract

Palembang City tourism has experienced very promising developments in recent years. However, since the corona virus outbreak began to attack, all tourism sectors began to experience a decline. In addition to the impact of the corona virus outbreak, the tourism potential of Palembang City has not been developed optimally. Virtual reality can be a solution to promote tourism during a pandemic. Virtual reality allows tourists to see and feel the attractions of Palembang City without having to visit the location directly. The system development method used is the multimedia development life cycle or MDLC which is adjusted to the needs at the time of the research. The development of the system produces an android application that is equipped with a virtual reality display of 360 ° images of tourist objects and produces a web admin as a data management system. The developer uses the Kotlin programming language and the pannellum js library to convert ordinary 360° images into virtual reality displays that can be displayed on Android applications. It has been tested using the system usability scale (SUS) method for the Palembang Tourism application and obtained a score of 81.6.
