Abstract

Sweet corn is one of the important food commodities in Indonesia. Sweet corn has various uses as well as can be used as a processed material in the manufacture of cornstarch and animal feed. Sweet corn is also in great demand by the community so that their needs increase as the population grows. To meet the needs of the community, land conditions in Indonesia are less than optimal so it is necessary to improve it by means of fertilization and proper processing. This is a problem in increasing sweet corn production, so that intensive agricultural activities become a solution for farmers to meet these needs. Intensive farming that is carried out with the expectation of optimal results is even less suitable to be carried out given the unfavorable land conditions. As is the case in Indonesia, especially in South Sumatra, the land that is usually cultivated as agricultural land is a type of the order Ultisol which is known to have low nutrients. It is necessary to do intensive fertilization to support the growth of sweet corn plants so that they can produce optimally and also need to do the right land management. Therefore, this ecoenzyme liquid organic fertilizer is sought to meet nutrient needs for both soil and plants. This study aims to study the effect of two types of ecoenzymes as liquid organic fertilizers, analyze various concentrations on soil chemical properties and growth response of sweet corn on Ultisol. This research was carried out from June to November 2021, at UV plastic house. Soil analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of Biology, Chemistry and Soil Fertility, Department of Soil, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and Sampoerna Agro Tbk Laboratory, Palembang. The materials used in this study were Ultisol, POC ecoenzymes and sweet corn seeds. The research method used in this study was Split Plot Design with 2 treatment factors, namely 2 levels of ecoenzyme types as the main plot and 6 levels of ecoenzyme concentration as subplots which were repeated 3 times. The first factor is the type of ecoenzyme as the main plot, consisting of E1 = Ecoenzyme Sample 1 and E2 = Ecoenzyme Sample 2. And the second factor is the concentration of ecoenzyme as a subplot, consisting of A0 = 0% (0 ml EE + 1000 ml water); A1 = 0.1% (1 ml EE + 999 ml water); A2 = 0.2% (2 ml EE + 998 ml water); A3 = 0.3% (3 ml EE + 997 ml water); A4 = 0.4% (4 ml EE + 996 ml water) and A5 = 0.5% (5 ml EE + 995 ml water). Overall there are 2 x 6 x 3 = 36 experimental units. The variables observed in this study were C-organic soil, soil humic content, pH H2O, pH KCl, plant height, number of plant leaves, wet and dry weight of the top of the plant, and wet and dry weight of the bottom of the plant. The results obtained in this study were ecoenzyme 1 type with a concentration of 0.5% (A5) affected and had the best results on soil organic C of 5.98% and ecoenzyme 2 type with a concentration of 0.5% (A5) had an effect on and has the best yield on soil humic content of 3.93%.
