Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to analyze the factors that influence farmers in transferring the commodity of lowland rice and switching to shallot in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency, (2) to analyze changes in farmers' income after changing the commodity to shallots. in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, and (3) Describe the impact of commodity transfer on environmental, social and economic aspects of farmers in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. This research was conducted in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency in March 2022. The research location was chosen purposively with the consideration that an event had occurred that caused farmers to switch paddy rice commodities to shallots. The research method used in this study is a survey method. The sampling method used is the quota sampling method. Based on the results of the study, the factors that influence farmers to transfer the commodity of lowland rice to the commodity of shallots, namely income, knowledge, economic demands, the influence of other parties, natural factors and market demand have no significant effect. The results of data processing using IBM SPSS 26 Software and Microsoft Excel showed that rice farmers who transferred commodities to shallots experienced a significant increase in income and had a positive impact on farmers.
