Abstract

Aedes aegypti L. mosquito is a vector of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. One of the efforts that can be done to prevent the spread of the disease is vector control. Until now, the efforts made by the community are using synthetic larvicides. However, the use of synthetic larvicides can have a negative impact on the environment. Therefore, a natural alternative that is safer for the environment and humans is needed by using biolarvicides. This study aims to determine the ability of extracts and bark fractions of mango as biolarvicides on the mortality of third instar larvae of Ae. Aegypti, knowing the LC50 value of extracts and fractions from mango bark, knowing the content of compounds present in mango bark and looking at changes in larval morphology due to exposure to extracts and fractions of mango bark. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 7 treatments and 5 repetitions, with the first procedure to determine the ability of mango stem peel extract and fraction as a biolarvicide for third instar larvae of Ae. Aegypti then calculated the % mortality. Second, to determine the LC50 value of extract and mango bark fraction using probit analysis. Third, observe the morphological changes that occur in larvae due to exposure to extracts and fractions and finally identify the bioactive compounds present in the mango bark. The results showed that mango peel extract and bark fraction had the ability to kill the third instar larvae of Ae. aegypti. The LC50 value of mango bark extract was 1873.96 ppm while the LC50 of the ethyl acetate fraction was 1789.14 ppm. The bioactive compounds contained in the ethyl acetate fraction of mango bark are phenols, flavonoids, tannins and terpenoids. Damage to morphology and respiratory tract, changes in body size and body color due to exposure to extracts and fractions of mango bark. Keywords: Biolarvicides, Mango Bark (M. Indica L.), Ae. aegypti L.
