Abstract

Introduction : Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the highest cause of mortality in the world. Based on WHO data in 2008, it was estimated that 7,3 million or 12,8% world people died by CHD. The mortality rate in Indonesia also keep rising from year to year. Cardiac catheterization is a gold Standard examination for CHD. The purpose of this research is to investigate the characteristic of CHD patients who underwent catheterization in Cardiology Division of Internal Medicine RSMH. Method : This research is a retrospective descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design. The samples of this research are all CHD patients who underwent catheterization in Cardiology Division of Internal Medicine RSMH Palembang period 1 January-31 October2012. Result : Based on research data, there were 89 CHD patients who underwent catheterization. The patients were dominantly men (77,5%). The dominant age category is 45-64 years old, both in men (84%) and women patients (90%). Women above 51 years old have a higher incidence of CHD (65%). The most dominant complaints by patients was angina pectoris (77,5%) and the most dominant patient history found was hypertension (36%). Most of the patients have a normal heart rate (96,7%), respiration rate (89,9%), body temparature (75,5%), and body mass index (47,2%). Most of them suffers from grade 1 hypertension (33,7%), jugular vein pressure of 5-2 cmH20 (84,3%), and no murmurs (95,5%). Normal cholesterol (53,9%), HDL (56,2%), LDL (52,8%), triglicerid (50,5%) and blood glucose (91 %) are dominant. The most common Iocalization of the disturbed coronary artery are both right and left coronary artery (56,2%). Conclusion : From a total of 89 CHD patients undergoing catheterization, most of them are men, age of 45-64 years old, and women above 51 years old. Most of them complained about angina pectoris, have a history of hypertension, have normal heart rate, normal body mass index, normal respiration rate, normal body temparature, suffers grade 1 hypertension, jugular vein pressure of 5-2 cmH20, have no murmurs, have a normal lipid profile, normal blood glucose and have Iocalization disturbed coronary artery on both right and left coronary arteries.
