Abstract

Background :Febrile convulsion are the most commonform of convulsion disorder in childhood, occuring in 2%-5% of children aged 3 until 60 months old. Recurrent febrile convulsion has several riskfactors that have been examinec L Some of these risk factors such as age offirst-time having a febrile convulsion, history offebrile convulsion in the family, and the temperature of the fever. Because of that reason the research decided to do research to flnd out whether or not the influence of risk factors of recurrent febrile convulsion in Mohammad Hoesin hospitals (RSMH) Palembang. Objective :The aim of this study is to know the riskfactors of recurrent febrile convulsion in children with febrile convulsions at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. Methods :This study is conducted in descriptive-analytic design. The data of samples assigned in this study is taken from all medical records in January 2010 to January 2012 in Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Hosipital of every pediatrics patient with febrile convulsion. Results :A total of 175 samples, consisted of 95 patients with febrile convulsion. Of95 patients, 39 (41,1%) have recurrent febrile convulsions and 56 (58,9%) patients preceding the first febrile convulsion. Based on bivariate analysis it found that family history of convulsion has a correlation with recurrent febrile convulsions (p<0,05). Conclusion: The risk of recurrent febrile convulsion increased with family history of febrile convulsions.
