Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the causes of the decline in children's ability to memorize short letters (qualitative descriptive study in the kindergarten B group at TPQ Al-Muttaqin Suka Cinta Lahat). This research uses a qualitative type of descriptive research with data collection techniques, namely interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis used is the analysis of Qualitative Data of Miles and Hubarmen, which includes data collection from interviews, observations and documentation then reducing the data obtained from the field, presenting data in the form of short narratives, and drawing conclusions. Researchers used six research subjects, namely two children aged (5-6) years, two parents, and two teachers at TPQ Al-Muttaqin Suka Cinta Lahat. The results showed that the cause of the decrease in children's ability to memorize short letters was the first memorization method used by the teacher was not interesting so that when the child was upset, bored and chatting. Secondly, there is no schedule that is adhered to by the child so that the child is not disciplined. Third, the lack of rote murajaah and fourthly, there is a similarity between verse one and another verse. Keywords: Child's Ability, Memorizing Short Letters, Early Childhood
