Abstract

ABSTRACT Pregnant women are one of the nutritional vulnerable groups who are prone to health problems and malnutrition. Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) is a condition of nutritional status that is classified as poor nutrition caused by a lack of nutrients needed by the body. CED is marked with the size of LILA <23.5 cm. CED in pregnant women is influenced by several factors such as the condition of emesis gravidarum related to macronutrient intake (energy, carbohydrates, protein, and fat) as well as maternal characteristics (birth spacing, parity, and family income). This study aims to determine the relationship between emesis gravidarum and the incidence of chronic energy deficiency (CED) in pregnant women. This research method is a quantitative research with a cross-sectional research design. The number of samples in this study were 60 pregnant women. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Data analysis was univariate and bivariate (Fisher exact test). Interpretation of data using tables accompanied by narration. The percentage of pregnant women who experience CED in the working area of Tanjung Batu Health Center is 15%. The results of the bivariate test showed that there was a significant relationship between energy intake (p = 0.038) and protein intake (p = 0.009) with the incidence of chronic energy deficiency (CED) in pregnant women. The results of the bivariate test showed the p-value of energy intake (p = 0.038), protein intake (p = 0.009), Emesis Gravidarum (p = 0.421), birth spacing (p = 0.218), parity (p = 0.664), family income ( p = 0.612), carbohydrate intake (p = 0.365), and fat intake (p = 0.391). Can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between energy and protein intake on the incidence of CED in pregnant women in the working area of Tanjung Batu health center, Ogan Ilir Regency. There is no significant relationship between emesis gravidarum, birth spacing, parity, family income, carbohydrate intake, and fat intake with the incidence of KEK in pregnant women in the working area of Tanjung Batu health center, Ogan Ilir Regency. It is recommended to pregnant women who experience nausea and vomiting (emesis gravidarum) can be given food in small portions so that the intake consumed is not much excreted because of nausea and vomiting.
