Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh suhu media terhadap kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan benih kuda laut (H. kuda). Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan September 2008, bertempat di Laboratorium kuda laut Balai Besar Pengembangan Budidaya Laut Lampung Propinsi Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 3 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan yaitu P1 (28°C±0,5), P2 (30°C±0,5) dan P3 (32°C±0,5). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan suhu media pemeliharaan berpengaruh nyata terhadap kelangsungan hidup benih kuda laut. Suhu media 28°C±0,5 memberikan hasil tertinggi yaitu 89,99 % tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan panjang dan berat benih kuda laut. Hasil pengukuran kualitas air adalah Salinitas (30-32 %o ), pH (7,763-8,17), oksigen terlarut (3,00-3,99 mg l-1) dan Amonia (0,00014-0,00160 mg l-1).
