Abstract

The Background: Various studies on dijferent levels of Health Services in many countries have demonstrated the use of drugs is far from rational State, including the use of antihypertensive medications. This study aims to determine the rationality of the use of antihypertensive drugs in patients with hypertension in the Renal Hypertension Specialty Polyclinic RSMH Palembang so that the negative impact of irrationality events can be reduced to a minimum. The Method: This study is a descriptive research study of drug use from October to December 2011 at the Renal Hypertension Specialty Polyclinic RSMH Palembang. Population and study sample were taken from medical records of hypertensive patients using antihypertensive drugs from January 2011 to November 2011. Study variables, including dose. frequency of administration, contraindication, interaction with other drugs. The Result: Of 490 samples, use of antihypertensive drugs in the Renal Hypertension Specialty Polyclinic RSMH Palembang has the right dose% right frequency. and precise indication at 100% of the sample. while the antagonistic interactions found in 28.6% of the sample. Percentage of rational drug use, as many as 71.4%. while the percentage o f irrational drug use as many as 28.6% The Conclusion: The use of antihypertensive drugs in the Special Polyclinic Renal Hypertension RSMH Palembang is rational
