Abstract

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease is a patophysiologic process with multi etiology that can progressively decrease renal functions, and usually ends with renal failure. One of the complication from chronic kidney disease is the imbalance of phosphate level regulation that can cause Chronic Kidney Disease Mineral Bone Disturbance (CKD-MBD). USRDS {United States Renal Data System) (1993), noted that the prevalency of hyperphosphatemia in chronic kidney disease patients still 53,6% although phosphate binders already given in 80% cases. The aim of this research is to search the correlations of medication adherence and phosphate binders consumption pattern with phosphate level in chronic kidney disease stage V patients. Method : This research is an analytical observational laboratoric study with cross sectional design and already held at Oktober lsl until November 31st 2012 in Hemodialysis installation of Mohammad Hoesin hospital. The samples of this research is all patients with chronic kidney disease stage v who take hemodialys in hemodialysis installation of Mohammad Hoesin hospital. In this research, the independent variables is medication adherence and phosphate binder consumption pattern, and the dependent variable is phosphate level. In addition, this research also use co-variable. All of the data processed with SPSS 20 version, and the hypothesis will be tested by using chi square test. Result : Based on research result, from 142 respondents around 72,5% respondents suffered hyperphosphatemia. Around 59,9% respondents disobedient in phosphate binder consumption and 71,2% respondents has wrong phosphate binders consumption pattern. And then, around 61,65% respondents has low motivation and 50,4% respondents has low knowledge about phosphate binders. Around 57% respondentsobeyed the diet with low phosphate consumption. Based on chi square test, p value is lower than alpha 0,05 and it means that there is a correlations between medication adherence and phosphate binders consumption pattern with phosphate level in chronic kidney disease stage V patients. Conclusion: There is a correlations between medication adherence and phosphate binders consumption pattern with phosphate level in chronic kidney disease stage V patients.
