Abstract

Background: Low Back Pain is defined as an acute pain condition that causes discomfort in the area below the costal margin and above the inferior gluteal folds. Company employees, especially office and operations departments, are at risk of suffering from LBP due to long working hours and duration, heavy workload, non-ergonomic work postures, and other individual factors such as age and body mass index (BMI). Therefore, this study aims to determine the risk factors and their relationship with LBP complaints among employees of PT. Sinar Alam Permai (Wilmar). Methods: This study used an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional study design. The sample used is an employee of PT. Sinar Alam Permai (Wilmar) according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was collected through an online google form questionnaire and processed univariately and bivariately through SPSS. Results: Out of the 42 respondents who were studied according to the inclusion criteria, LBP was found in 29 employees (69%). The characteristics of the research subjects were dominated by employees aged ≥ 30 years, namely 40 people (9,.2%) and most of the respondents were categorized as having an ideal BMI (BMI <25) with a total of 26 people (61,9). In addition, the highest results were found in respondents with working years > 4 years, 37 people (88,1%) and working hours > 8 hours per day, namely 35 people (83,3). There is a relationship between LBP incidents and the age factor with a p value=0.030 and an OR of 3.636 (95% CI 2.199 - 6.014) and BMI with a p value=0.042 and an OR of 5.133 (95% CI 0.963 - 27.363). As for the factor of working time and working hours per day, there is no significant relationship with the incidence of LBP. Conclusion: The prevalence of LBP in employees of PT. Sinar Alam Permai (Wilmar) with a total of 29 people (69%) from 42 research subjects. Found a significant correlation between age and BMI with LBP incidents. In addition, it was found that the incidence of LBP had no significant value with the factor of working time and working hours per day.
