Abstract

Rice is a food crop that has important roles and benefits for survival. The production of rice plants often decreases both in quality and quantity due to attacks by nocturnal rice grain-sucking pests. Pests of rice plants must be controlled to obtain optimal yields. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using light traps in trapping bugs and ground bugs in Ulak Kerbau Village and to determine the population levels of bugs and ground bugs in Ulak Kerbau Village. Observations were carried out from September to October 2022. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD). Rice grain sucking pest attacks occur after sunset. Rice grain-sucking pest attacks can be found in rice grain grain phases that are still filled with white liquid. Symptoms of grain-sucking pest attacks can be found on empty rice grains. Infected rice panicles will remain upright due to the empty grain. In addition, the affected grain feels light when crushed. The results showed that the white light traps attracted more ladybugs than the yellow light traps. L. oratorius trapped more than Scotinophara sp. White and yellow light traps are relatively the same in trapping Scotionophara sp.
