Abstract

Background: Primary open-angle glaucoma is a progressive optic neuropathy with loss of retinal ganglion cells and visual field disturbances caused by increased intraocular pressure and at the gonioscopy examination showed a chamber of the eye open Methods: The type of research used was observational-descriptive. By looking at medical record data of primary open-angle glaucoma patients at the eye polyclinic of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Results: There were 33 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma. Based on general characteristics, the largest category was male (51,5%), age 40-69 years (84.4%), demography from the Cities in South Sumatera (60.6%) and the level of education in the high school (42.4%). Based on clinical characteristics, the largest category was had a mild degree of glaucoma based on cup to disc ratio (54.5%), had a mild degree of glaucoma based on visual field defects,(48.5%), had intraocular pressure in the category <21 mmHg with therapy (48.5%). Based on risk factors, the largest group there was no history of hypertension (57.6%), no history of diabetes melitus (72.7%), no family history (84.8%), refractive status in ametropia (72.7%). Based on the therapy most with medicamentous (69.7%). Conclusion: Based on general characteristics the largest group was male, aged 40-69 years, and come from cities in South Sumatera. Based on the clinical characteristics the largest group was had a mild degree of cup to disc ratio, had a mild degree of visual field defects, had an intraocular pressure <21mmHg with therapy. Based on the risk factors based on the largest group there was no history of hypertension, no history of diabetes melitus, no family history, and had refractive status of ametropia.
