Abstract

Local wisdom in doing farming is an activity that has been passed down from generation to generation as an effort to solve agricultural problems in the village. This application certainly has an impact on the income received by farmers. This study aims to: (1) Identify social economic conditions of rice farmers in Pemulutan Ilir Village Pemulutan District Ogan Ilir Regency. (2) Identify local wisdom applied by farmers in doing farming. (3) Analysing the relationship between farmer household income and local wisdom in rice farming. The location of this research was chosen intentionally. This research was conducted in June - August 2021. The method used in this research is a survey method. The sampling method used in this research is simple random sampling. The results showed that: (1) Social conditions were divided into farmer’s age, farmer’s last education, length of experience in farming, number of dependents, land ownership status, and type of residence. And economic conditions found that the monthly income of the farmer's household was Rp2.709.271. (2) Floating nursery is a local wisdom that is still used by farmers in Pemulutan Ilir village. (3) The relationship between farmer household income and local wisdom was analysed using Spearman's Rank Correlation with a significance value of 0.009 and a correlation coefficient of 0.396.
