Abstract

Posyandu is an important tool to support efforts to achieve a prosperous society. The success of Posyandu is influenced by the activeness of cadres in carrying out their roles and functions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in the performance of cadres in the stunting prevention program at Puskesmas OPI Jakabaring and Puskesmas Lima Ilir, Palembang City. The research method used observational with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample employed the total sampling method (92 cadres at Puskesmas OPI Jakabaring and 53 cadres at Puskesmas Lima Ilir). Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the length of work (p value 0,001), knowledge (p value 0,018), infrastructure (p value 0,002), motivation (p value 0,000), and performance of cadres (p value 0,000) proved to be significantly different. As a result of the comparison, the performance of Posyandu cadres at the Puskesmas Lima Ilir area has a higher mean rank than cadres at Puskesmas OPI Jakabaring working area (92.38 vs. 61.84). The research variables of age (p value 0,858), education (p value 0,498), occupation (p value 0,613), compensation (p value 0,791), perception of the leadership of the person in charge (p value 0,089), and perception of supervision of the person in charge (p value 0,687)did not differ significantly in the two Puskesmas areas. Bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship among length of work (p value 0.022) and knowledge (p value 0.006) with the performance of posyandu cadres of Puskesmas Opi Jakabaring. There was a significant relationship among knowledge (p value 0.010) and motivation (p value 0.019) with the performance of posyandu cadres of Puskesmas Lima Ilir. Meanwhile, the multivariate analysis showed that the knowledge variable was the variable that most affects the performance of Posyandu cadres in the two Puskesmas areas.Therefore, it is hoped that the city government will pay more attention to Posyandu infrastructure and improve the knowledge and motivation of cadres to be more active in organizing Posyandu activities.
