Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by high sugar levels (hyperglycemia). Diabetic foot ulcers (UKD) are one of the most common complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus. UKD is a complication of diabetes mellitus in the form of a full-thickness wound that is distal to the ankle caused by peripheral neuropathy. In Indonesia, the prevalence of UKD sufferers is around 15%, the amputation rate is 30%, the mortality rate is 32%. DFU is the most common cause of inpatient care in hospitals, namely as many as 80% of patients with diabetes mellitus. DUG has been associated with several risk factors including type 2 diabetes mellitus, peripheral neuropathy, physical activity, peripheral vascular disease, medication adherence, older age, gender, duration of diabetes mellitus, and foot care. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Risk Factors for the Occurrence of Diabetic Foot Ulcers in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus so that prevention of diabetic foot ulcers can be pursued in patients with diabetes mellitus in the future. This type of research is analytic observational with a case control research design. This study uses primary data and secondary data from patients at RSUP Dr Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. The number of samples taken was 96 respondents with a case group of 48 respondents and a control group of 48 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used SPSS 26 with interpretation of univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis. The number of samples in this study were 96 respondents with the result that 48 respondents suffered from diabetic foot ulcers and 48 respondents did not suffer from diabetic foot ulcers. In the Chi Square analysis, significant results were obtained for the variables age, gender, duration of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity, glycemic control, and occupation with a p-value <0.05, while the type of therapy did not find significant results. The multivariate analysis found that the most dominant of the significant variables were obesity, hypertension and duration of diabetes mellitus. In this study it can be concluded that significant results were found in the variables age, gender, duration of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity, glycemic control and occupation in diabetes mellitus patients at Dr Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang. In the regression analysis it can be concluded that statistically obesity, hypertension and duration of diabetes mellitus are risk factors for diabetic foot ulcers in patients with diabetes mellitus at Dr Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, diabetic foot ulcers, risk factors.
