Abstract
Semprawang (D. ochreata) is plant belongs to Dilleniaceae family that has been used by Musi tribe as a cure for scabies. The information about biology activity from this plant is very limited. The aims research was to screen of antioxidant compound from steam bark of D. ochreata. The research was started with extraction by maceration method using a solvent of increasing polarity (n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol). Furthermore, separation and purification of methanol fraction was carried out and guided by an antioxidant test using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The isolated compound were analyzed using thin layer chromatography, spectrophotometry UV, FTIR and GC-MS. Separation of methanol fraction obtained five fractions with the highest antioxidant found in F3 fraction (IC_50 124.52 mg/L). Further separation of F3 fraction obtained five subfractions with the highest antioxidant activity found in F3.3 subfraction (IC_50 27.63 mg/L). This indicate that the antioxidant activity of D. ochreata stem bark is higher in a simpler compare the crude extract. Based on the identification using thin layer chromatography, UV spectrophotometri, FTIR and GC-MS spectroscopy, the compound that play a role in providing antioxidant activity in F3.3 subfraction is phenolic compound that have catechol units.
