Abstract

Feed is the main factor that supports fish growth. Various studies on artificial feed for climbing perch are continuously carried out. The addition of high ingredients calories can support the growth of fish. Fat contains higher energy than protein and carbohydrates. One source of fat that can be used is coconut oil. This research aims to determine the percentage of different addition of coconut oil as a source of fat in feed to increase the growth of climbing perch. This research was conducted at the Fisheries Basic Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, from April to May 2022. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatment given was the addition of coconut oil into commercial feed with different percentages for climbing perch, consisting of: commercial feed without the addition of coconut oil with a fat content of 3.88% (P1), addition 5% coconut oil with the total fat content of feed 8.25% (P2), addition 10 % coconut oil with the total fat content of feed 12.16% (P3), addition 15% coconut oil with the total fat content of feed 18.98% (P4), and addition 20% coconut oil with the total fat content of feed 24.15% (P5). The results showed that the addition of coconut oil as much as 15% (total fat content of feed 18.98%) was the best result with absolute growth of weight of climbing perch 0.74 g, feed efficiency of 16.68%, and feed protein efficiency ratio of 0.56. Water quality during culture period still within the range that supports the survival rate of climbing perch.
