Abstract

The river are aquatic ecosystem that play an important role in the life of aquatic organisms and human needs. River has been polluted if it has decreased below predetermined quality standards. One of the hazardous materials in river is phosphate. One way to reduce phosphate is by means of phytoremediation using water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) and water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes). The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of water lettuce and water hyacinth plants in reducing phosphate levels in the waters of the Sekanak River. This study used the RAL method with wet weight treatments of 100, 200, and 300 gr as well as control with 4 repetitions with a length of day 3, day 6, and day 9 . Data were analyzed using the t-test. The results of the study showed that effective wet weight on Water letture plants was 100 gr and the effective duration was day 6, then the effective wet weight on Water hyacinth plants was 100 gr and the effective duration was day 9. The results of the research are made in the form of LKPD as a support for learning biology.
