Abstract

The problem examined in this study was how the skills of teachers managing the classroom with discovery learning model in Economic subject at SMA Negeri 19 Palembang. The variable of this study was descriptive qualitative. The sample of this study was the two Economic teachers who used discovery learning model in teaching the tenth and eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 19 Palembang. The techniques of data collection used were observation, and interviews. While the technique of data analysis applied was descriptive analysis technique consisting of the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion making. The results of this study showed that the teachers’ classroom management skill of Economic subject at SMA Negeri 19 Palembang were categorized as highly skilled, with a percentage of 88.88% for RI teachers and 91.66% for NM teachers. Furthermore, the observation results in applying the discovery learning model were categorized as highly skilled with an average of 100% for RI teachers and 94.87% for NM teachers. Therefore, it can be concluded that the classroom management with discovery learning model conducted by Economic teachers in tenth and eleventh grade classes at SMA Negeri 19 Palembang were already very skilled. The response of students to classroom management and discovery learning models make them being more active in the learning process.
