Abstract

Third molar are the teeth most often impacted can cause chewing problems and various complications that need to be done odontektomi action as early as possible in order to avoid the possibility of morbidity. The purpose of this study is to know the prevalence of odontectomy third molar impacted in Palembang period 2006-2010. This study is a descriptive survey research, performed by observation to secondary data from oral surgery patient’s medical records at mouth and tooth polyclinic of Hospital dr. A.K Gani Palembang for period of 2006-2010. The population was all patients who visited mouth and tooth polyclinic, where as the sample was all patients with case of odontectomy third molar impacted. The result found that patients of odontectomy third molar impacted amount to 1,102 people is 5.02% of the 21,972 people who visited mouth and tooth polyclinic of Hospital dr. Gani A.K Palembang period 2006-2010. Prevalence of odontectomy third molars impacted based on sex in women more than men, dominantly patients with age 20-29 years, and at most locations on the lower jaw with quadrant III and least in quadrant I.
