Abstract
The prevalence of malocclusion in Indonesia still points at the high rate. Sugiarto (J984), in his last study about the influence premature loss of primary teeth to the occlusion and space for permanent teeth, report that in the group of children with premature loss of primary teeth, for about 90% of malocclusion frequency found. was This study was represented by sixty five mixed dentition children at Jamik Assholihin, Pelangi, Kartini, An-nisa, Mutia, Al-Amin, and Ridho Ilahi Borstal institution, on Kecamatan Ilir Barat I Palembang. This study is a kind of description,consist of sampling survey and the purpose of this study is to know prevalence of malocclusion in mix dentition period, especially caused by premature loss of primary molars. This study had shown that fourty seven children at the borstal, have malocclusion, consist of fourty eight children of class I malocclusion (41,53 %), seven children of class II malocclusion (10,77 %), three children of clas II first division (4,62%), one children of clas II second division (1,53%), and nine children of clas III (13,85%). From these malocclusion report, we may conclude that premature loss of primary molars may be is one of the main cause in borstal’s children, which is about sixteen children.
