Abstract

Saga leaves (Abrus precatorius folia) were plant which originated from India. Saga leaves contains a major active compound is glycyrrhizin and other active compound are flavonoid, steroid, vitamine A and vitamine C. They have been known as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungi, antivirus and antioxidant that can process wound he aling rapidly. This research aim at investigating the effect o f saga leaves extract t o rapidly healing rat’s gingival wounds pascagingivoplasty on mal e albino rats strain Wistar. This research used laboratory experimental in vivo. The subjects of the research were 30 male albino Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar which were divided into 5 groups. The positive control group using chlorhexidine 0,2%, negative control group using aquadest, first treatment group using extract of saga leaves consentration 3%w/v, second treatment group using extract of saga leaves consentration 4%w/v and third treatment group using extract of saga leaves consentration 5%w/v. The data were analyzed with One Way-ANOVA and Post-hoc (Least Significant Difference/LSD) test. The conclusion of this research was that saga leaves extract shown the effect of rapidly healing on gingival wound of male albino rats strain Wistar pascagingivoplasty.
