Abstract

ABSTRACT Miftahun Najah, 08051181419003, Morphometric Identification And Distribution Horseshoe Crab As Primitive Marine Animal In The Waters Littoral Of Banyuasin (Supervisor:Dr. Fauziyah, S.Piand FitriAgustriani, S.Pi., M. Si) Horseshoe Crab in Indonesia considered as a primitive marine animal, and has been grouped into vulnerable or rare categories. The population of horseshoecrab is now declining due to intensive fishing by fishermen and habitat degradation. Law enforcement efforts against protected wildlife perpetrators are too weak. This study aims to determine the distribution and growth systems of horseshoecrab based on its morphology in the waters littoral of Banyuasin. The method used in this study was morphometric analysis based on Sekiguchi and Shuster, (2009) and the long-term relationship with the T test. The results showed that littoral of Banyuasinthe field there were two species of horseshoecrab namelyTachypleustridentatusand Carcinosscorpius rotundicauda . Based on the distribution T. tridentatus found more than C. rotundicauda . The pattern of growth the horseshoecrab T. tridentatus and C. rotundicauda is negative allometric.
