Abstract

Nursing Caries (N.C) is caries thick form in baby teeth that has specific form, found on smooth surfaces from the upper anterior teeth. This caries happens because the parents continuosly giving breast milk, milk bottle or sugary liquids which take place twice to four times a day for several hours to their children until they sleeping and sometimes all night long without cleaning the child' mouth afterward. Occurence of these can be prevented early through the understanding and the role of parents especially mother in maintaining the health of child’s teeth. The objective of research is to know the correlation between socioeconomic status of the family and mather’s knowledge with prevalence nursing caries in preschool children in Kecamatan Ilir Barat I Palembang. This research is Correlative descriptive survey with Cross sectional approach. The population is preschool children in Kecamatan Ilir Barat I Palembang, sample used are 187 sample which taken from six preschool. Data processing used a statistic test and analyzed univariate and bivariate with correlation test. The results of research showed that have a significant relationship among all independent variables that researched by prevalencing nursing caries in preschool children in Kecamatan Ilir Barat I Palembang. Concluded that the family socioeconomic status and mother’s knowledge are factors associated with presence or absence nursing caries in preschool chlidren in Kecamatan Ilir Barat I Palembang.
