Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of water hyacinth organic fertilizer application on the growth of peppermint plants (Mentha x piperita L.) The research method used is the experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and five replications. The treatment consisted of P0 (control), P1, P2, P3 and P4, which P1 with a concentration of 15%, P2 with a concentration of 30%, P3 with a concentration of 45%, and P4 with a concentration of 60% . The data was analyzed with ANOVA and continued with Duncan’s Real Differences Test (DRDT) The results showed that the treatment of P2 with concentration (30%) had a very significant effect on parameters, namely the number of leaves, leaf area, number of shoots, shoot length, root wet weight and root dry weight. Based on these results it was concluded that the concentration of water hyacinth liquid organic fertilizer concentration of 30% was the recommended treatment for increasing the growth of peppermint plants. The informations of this research was expected to be an alternative of contextual example in Biology learning XII class 1stsemester in Basic Competence 3.1 Describe the relationship between internal and external factors to the growth and development process in living creatures. Basic Competence 4.1 Making plan and doing experiment about external factors that were influence to the growth and development plant. The result of this research will be donated in the form of learning tools (Syllabus, lesson plans and student work sheet).
