Abstract

The use of carbamazepines as anticonvulsant drugs for epilepsy suffers could induce hypersensitivity type III reaction. Allergic mediators at hipersensitivity reaction caused eythema multiforme which is one of an immunological disease that is acute i n the ski n and mucous memhranes. This research has aim t o see corelation between the use of carbamazepines as anticonvulsant drug with the existance of erythema multiforme in epilepsy suffers. Cross sectional research has been held at Medical Records division of Moehammad Hoesin Hospital (RSMH) Palembang on January 13-18, 2014. The amount of samples were 96 samples which is gotten from medical records notebook and medical records of epilepsy patients who were treated at Nerves Poly of RSMH Palembang. The result of this research showed that frequency of erythema multiforme of 24 samples who consume carbamazepines was 16% (p<0,05). The conclusion of this research was that there was corelation between the use of carbamazepines as anticonvulsant drugs at epilepsy patients with the existance of erythema multiforme.
