Abstract

The male guppy fish is more colorful and beautiful so the price is higher than the female one. Hence, it is needed to develop a technology to turn the gender to be a male. One of reversal sex technology is by submerging guppy fish in the 17\ensuremathα-Metiltestosteron hormone solution. The goal of this current research was to know the influence of submerging periode of guppy Fish (Poecillia reticulata) in 17\ensuremathα-Metiltestosteron Hormone Solution to sex ratio of its young fish. This research applied four treatments of different submerging periods, namely Po (control), P1 (10 hours), P2 (20 hours), and P3 (30 hours). The parameters observed were sex ratio, survival rate and the water quality parameter. The result of this current research showed that the submerging period of guppy fish gave a significant influence on sex ratio of its young fish. The percentages of male young guppy fish aged 42 days were 39.83%, 78.83%, 91.80% and 100% and the survival rates were 68.41%, 73.18%, 74.98% and 69.49% respectively for P0, P1, P2 and P3. The water qualities were ranged from 25.5 to 30 0C for temperature, from 7.81 to 8.02 for pH and from 5.15 to 6.04 mg/l for DO.
