Abstract

In the machining process, cutting fluid is used to improve the quality dimensions, geometry and surface roughness of the product. Cutting fluid can be removed from mineral oil and vegetable oil. At this time many types of machinery are turning to the use of cutting fluid from vegetable oil. This is because of global problems with environmentally friendly machining. In this study machining the grinding side using liquid without using and using coconut oil as cutting fluid. Input parameters consist of cutting speed (Vc), feed motion per gear (fz) and axial cutting depth (ax). And the output parameters are the vibrations that occur and the surface roughness of the workpiece. Arduino-based ADXL-345 digital accelerometer MEMS sensor is used for the detection of vibration signals. The test results are obtained from the largest test that occurs in the direction of tangential cutting, followed by the direction of the feeding motion and taken in the direction of the feed. The effect of variations in cutting speed, feeding motion and upward motion lead to an increase in an upward motion. In the process of cutting using fluid by 34.5% and surface gravity roughness of 1.7 μm in the process without using fluid by 16.5% and surface roughness of 2, 1 μm for variations in cutting speed. On the variation of the tooth feed motion, it results in an increase in average vibration in the process using cutting fluid by 45.5% and surface roughness of 2.1 μm in the process without using cutting fluid by 1.5%, and surface roughness of 3.8 µm, for the variation of increasing cut gets a high percentage in the process of using cutting fluid by 26.5% and surface roughness of 2.5 μm in the process of using without using cutting fluid by 21% and roughness of 4.0 μm. The results of this study without using cutting fluid get great results compared to using cutting fluid. Keywords: Vibration, cutting fluid
