Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of the lack of public interest in using public transportation, especially the Palembang City Light Rail Transit (LRT), which is operated by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) Regional Division III Palembang. This study aims to determine what are the internal factors (strengths and weaknesses) and external factors (opportunities and threats) of Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Palembang City. This type of research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, questionnaires and documentation. The analysis technique uses SWOT analysis, Internal Factor Evaluation Matrix (Internal Factor Evaluation-IFE), External Factor Evaluation Matrix (Ekternal Factor Evaluation-EFE). The results of the study show that currently PT KAI Divre III Palembang has a strategy of optimizing the Light Rail Transut (LRT) so that it becomes the transportation of choice for the people of Palembang City. PT KAI Divre III Palembang in the LRT sector received an IFE score of 3.24 which shows that PT KAI's internal position is very strong. Meanwhile, the EFE score is 3.14. With this, PT KAI Divre III Palembang in LRT transportation gets a quadrant I position with an aggressive strategy. Keywords: PT KAI Divre III Palembang, SWOT, LRT
