Abstract

The supply of fuel as a source of energy is running low while increasing energy demand causes energy to become an important problem in almost all over the world including Indonesia. This requires us to think about finding solutions to how to overcome the energy crisis. To overcome this energy crisis many researches and special researches have been done in an effort to save fuel consumption by experimenting in order to increase the efficiency of fuel use. Innovations in the form of prototype cars in the Energy Saving Car Contest event for example. Therefore, this study discusses the design of a prototype concept car body and chassis that uses a Aluminum Alloy 6063-T5 Ladder Frame type chassis and uses fiberglass reinforced polymer composite materials with a ratio of matrix volume and glass fiber fraction of 55.9% and 44 , 1%. The size or dimensions of the prototype body are based on the 2019 Energy Saving Car Contest regulation. And the process refers to the results of the body design simulation using the Autodesk Inventor application. In addition, in the process of working on the prototype body, the molding or body molds are made first. From this study, the results obtained are body dimensions that are 289 cm long, 62 cm wide, and 56 cm high. While the chassis dimensions are 227 cm long and 27.5 cm wide. And the results obtained body weight that is equal to 14.3 kg with a chassis weight of 12 kg. With a maximum tensile strength of 82.6180 GPa.
