Abstract

Forage plants have superior qualities such as elephant grass, BD and Koronovia. This is because the three types of grass are types of grass that contain a fairly good nutritional value, characterized by high palatability and protein. Feed has an important role in increasing livestock productivity. This research was conducted in October 2018 at the Animal Nutrition and Food Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry and Technology, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The study was conducted in vitro using a descriptive statistical method with 3 treatments and 5 replications: 1gram Elephant Grass, 1gram BD Grass and Koronovia 1gram The observed parameters were gas production, gas pressure, concentration of methane gas. The results show that the three types of grass have different gas production characteristics. But of the three types of grass, Koronovia grass has the highest gas production among Elephant Grass and BD Grass.
