Abstract
This study discusses about reducing overhead package by eliminating excessive transmission. The algorithm used to reduce packet overhead is Preferred Group Broadcasting (PGB). The location used for research is on the K.H street. Ahmad Dahlan with an area of 50 square meters. The experiment was used at a speed of 36 km / h, using the Omnett ++ and Sumo applications. The results of the simulations that have been carried out compare the data before using the Preferred Broadcasting algorithm and after using the Preferred Group Broadcasting algorithm with the final result the value of the Packet Delivery Ratio 0.836 bps, Overhead Routing 0.0000290297 ms, and Average End to End Delay 93,294 bytes . The research carried out experienced an increase in performance, which was caused by a reduced broadcast RREQ package, so that the communication lines used between nodes were no longer fulfilled by the RREQ broadcast package.
